If approved by the House & Senate, voters will be given final say at the polls
Arlington, VA – A constitutional amendment to ban the disastrous practice of Ranked-Choice Voting and ensure that only U.S. citizens can vote in Missouri elections is currently being considered by the state’s legislature.
Specifically, if passed SJR 78 and HJR 104 would submit a referendum to the November ballot providing that only citizens of the United States over the age of 18 who are residents of Missouri are entitled to vote at all elections—an overwhelmingly obvious and popular position with Missouri voters.
The resolutions further provide that voters shall have only a single vote and that under no circumstance shall he or she be permitted to cast a ballot in a manner that results in the ranking of candidates for a particular office. Candidates receiving the greatest number of votes at a primary election shall be the only candidate for their party at the general election, with those receiving the greatest number of votes in the general election declared the winner.
National Chairman of the Election Transparency Initiative (ETI) and former Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli issued the following statement:
“We urge the House and Senate to protect the right of their citizens to vote without delay. Anti-Election Integrity megadonors are financing a nationwide campaign to promote the disastrous Ranked-Choice Voting system intended to dramatically push our politics to the Left, to elevate Left-leaning politicians, and to weaken political parties to their benefit. At the same time, illegal aliens are flooding our country at historic levels, making it even harder for states to verify the accuracy of voting lists. Lawmakers in Jefferson City have a choice: allow voters to decide whether state law should reflect the foundational, one person-one vote principle bestowed to American citizens, or further exacerbate an epidemic of disenfranchised voters whose ballots no longer are counted fairly and equally.”
Executive Director of Missouri-based Liberty Alliance USA Spencer Bone issued the following statement:
“The Left can’t get their crazy candidates elected. That’s why they are pushing Ranked-Choice Voting. That’s why they want non-citizens to vote. We can’t let them win, which is why the Missouri legislature needs to step up, hold the line, and keep elections secure and fair by banning these radical voting schemes.”
Executive Director of Honest Elections Project Action (HEP Action) and Chair of the national Stop RCV coalition Jason Snead issued the following statement:
“All across America, Left-wing activists are embracing Ranked-Choice Voting and non-citizen voting in order to push American politics to the Left. Ranked-choice voting is nothing more than a scam that makes it harder to vote, and harder to understand or trust the results of elections. It is so complicated and confusing that numerous cities across America have tried it and repealed it. Nevertheless, the nation’s biggest Left-wing donors are spending tens of millions to spread Ranked-Choice Voting, and Missouri is in their crosshairs. Missouri voters deserve the chance to vote on a constitutional amendment to ban Ranked-Choice Voting and non-citizen voting once and for all.”
Ranked-Choice Voting, also known as ‘Instant-Runoff Voting’ and ‘Preferential Voting,’ is a scheme that has made voting more confusing and difficult, reduced transparency, and put confidence and certainty at risk when implemented in public elections, with horror stories in Alaska, California, Colorado, Maine, New York, Utah, Virginia and elsewhere.
As designed, Ranked-Choice Voting manufactures a majority winner by routinely ‘exhausting’—or throwing out—thousands of ballots so candidates need only win a majority of the remaining votes, not a majority of all votes cast.
