Cuccinelli Available for Media Prior to Hearing
Washington, D.C. – Tomorrow, National Chairman of the Election Transparency Initiative and former VA Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli will provide expert testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee as Democrats continue their attempted takeover of state election systems. Mr. Cuccinelli previously served as Acting Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

President Biden today delivered a speech in Philadelphia opposing commonsense voter integrity protections overwhelmingly supported by Pennsylvania registered voters. According to the latest Franklin & Marshall College poll, 81% of respondents favor signature matching for mail-in ballots, including 88% of Independents and 64% of Democrats. Photo identification requirements are favored by 74% of respondents, including 77% of Independents.
Mr. Cuccinelli will issue the following statement as part of his testimony to the Judiciary Committee:
“Both HR1/S1 and the discussion of nation-wide preclearance with no objective basis both require an assumption that America is worse off today as it relates to voting access than it was in 1965 – a patently ludicrous assumption, and one directly at odds with the Supreme Court’s conclusion in the Shelby County decision of 2013…
“…Voter I.D. has been particularly politicized by the radical left propaganda machine. Yet despite 6 months of media-assisted assaults on the basic common sense need for voter I.D., the American people have been unmoved in their overwhelming support for this basic election integrity measure. It might explain why some very high profile propounders of the false ‘voter I.D. is racist’ propaganda – like Stacey Abrams – have suddenly flip-flopped to get on the right side of the polling.”
Democrats have created the myth of voter suppression in order to override state election laws, erase key safeguards protecting our elections from fraud, and undermine fair, secure, and transparent elections every American can trust. Mr. Cuccinelli detailed their extremism in a recent Fox News op-ed: “Democrats’ election takeover – here’s what’s at stake for every state.”
Recent polling shows the majority of voters, including Black and Hispanic as well as urban and independent voters, overwhelmingly support voter I.D. protections and want it to be easy to vote and hard to cheat.
The Election Transparency Initiative, a partnership between American Principles Project (APP) and the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List), was organized to combat H.R. 1/S. 1 and advocate for state-based election reforms that voters can trust.
